Besonders ausführlich ist der Abschnitt, der sich mit der Routenplanung befasst: Anhand durchgehend farbiger Pläne und Fotos werden mögliche Ziele für den Landfall vorgestellt, Wind- und Stromkarten verdeutlichen die umfassenden Angaben zu Klima und Wetter, zeigen die saisonalen Vor- und Nachteile der verschiedenen Atlantikrouten auf.

About the Authors: Anne Hammick is also the editor of Atlantic Spain and Portugal, The Baltic Sea and co-author of Atlantic Crossing Guide. Editor of Flying Fish, the OCC magazine and author of other books. Grew up in Lymington. Three years Secretary to Des Sleightholme past editor of Yachting Monthly. Many Atlantic crossings the first being in 1975. Followed by two handed race with her sister. Awarded Royal Cruising Club Challenge Cup 1987.

Gavin McLaren also edited the 6th edition of North Biscay. He spent twenty years in the Royal Navy as a navigator and submariner before becoming a civilian. Then as Adventurous Sail Training Instructor for the armed forces, he skippered the well-known Nicholson 55, British Soldier, sailing her in Europe, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. Gavin and his wife lived aboard their own yachts for many years in Scotland and on the south coast and have cruised extensively in home waters. In their current boat they have also completed two Atlantic circuits, including spending a year on the east coast of the USA. Gavin has skippered yachts on seven Atlantic crossings and many other long passages.
About the Reviser: The Late John Lawson was also the editor of North Brittany and the Channel Islands. He was editor of the RCC Song Book. After 33 years service in the Royal Navy, he was Master of the schooner Sir Winston Churchill and the barque Marques from 1980-83. He had sailed since the age of 10 and owned various offshore boats since 1958 which he raced and cruised extensively. The last ten years were spent mostly in the eastern Mediterranean with occasional returns to reconnoitre the French and Spanish coasts for Pilots and to visit his favourite area, the West coast of Scotland.
