This pilot for the
Balearic Islands Ibiza, Formentera, Mallorca and Menorca, formerly part of Robin
Brandons East Spain Pilot, has been completely revised and rewritten for the
Royal Cruising Club Pilotage Foundation by Graham Hutt who has also written other pilots
in the Mediterrenean.
This major revision was carried out in 2005. Graham Hutt has updated the facts,
amply illustrated by the Aerial photographs and has as far as possible verified the datum
of the plans toWGS84.
Throughout the book, the plans and charts are drawn to a new full colour specification
and, most significantly, the RCC Pilotage Foundation specially commissioned low-angle
colour aerial photographs of all the harbours and anchorages which support the text. This pilot achieves new standards of production
and is a worthy successor to Brandons classic guide on the Balearic Islands.
Also from the RCC Pilotage Foundation, Mediterranean Spain, covers the mainland
coast from Gibraltar to the Costa Brava in two volumes -Costas del Sol and
Blanca and Costas del Azahar Dorada and BravaA4. Hard Cover. Full
Colour. 258pp
About the Author: Graham Hutt began sailing while serving in the Royal Navy, gaining RYA Ocean and
DTI qualifications on Joint Service yachts in the 1970s. In 1980 he moved to the E
Mediterranean with his family, making his base on a 68ft schooner in Cyprus. Several
months each year since then have been spent sailing in the Mediterranean and along the
North African coast. Recently he has been based in Italy and Spain, also cruising the
Baleares Islands. His yachts have included a 28 ft Stella, a 48 ft Hartley Fijian and now
a French built Orion 39. An interest in the Arab world and its language as well as Arab
roots in Europe have been a major part of his work and sailing area over the past 26
years. Combining work as a medical anthropologist, with consultancy in the Arab world,
continues to facilitate a broad range of interests in Mediterranean sailing, research and
writing. |
