400th Anniversary of  a pioneer of navigation and pilotage

Richard Hakluyt died on 23rd November 1616

Author of 'Principal Navigations Voiages and Discoveries of the English Nation' Richard Hackluyt was one of the most influential promoters of further exploration and discovery. He could be considered the spiritual ancestor of the Pilotage Foundation.
The anniversary of his death is being marked by an exhibition in the Bodleian Library, Oxford and by a project to produce a new academic edition of his great work.
