THE BLACK SEA

A detailed study of the harbours of the Black Sea was made by Doreen and Archie Annan over four summers 1997 and 2000.  This work included detailed surveys and the preparation of original plans of all these harbours and anchorages.  Their subsequent books Ukraine in 2000 and Cruise the Black Sea in 2001 became the most authoritive books for yachtsmen cruising the Black Sea.  They were published by Atakoy Yacht Club, Turkey and for some years were difficult to obtain.   The Annans have now granted the Pilotage Foundation sole right of use of their data and plans.

Cruise the Black Sea,  Ukraine D&A Annan  2001/2000.   These books are now available and remain the most comprehensive guide to the Black Sea – though significant political changes and harbour developments make some information dated.

Black Sea Cruising GuideDavid Barker & Lisa Borre  2011.  This new publication covers much of the Black Sea and results from a detailed sailing recce in 2010 including updating the Annan plans.  It will be available initially as a free to download publication in text format. A fully illustrated  printed version of the guide will be available in time for the 2012 season. Details can be found at  http://www.imray.com/record.cfm?i_stock_code=IB0191

Updates  The Pilotage Foundation would welcome any feedback from the Black Sea.  It will be applied the Black Sea Cruising Guide.  Updates for harbours not covered in that guide will be linked to the original Cruise the Black Sea.
